Bawdsey Manor  is located at the mouth of the River Deben overlooking the North Sea near Felixstowe, Suffolk. The Manor House and its gardens, built by Sir Cuthbert Quilter in the late 1880's reflect Edwardian, Tudor, Flemish and Oriental influences, set in 150 acres of woodland next to the sea, providing a stunning location, ideal for stone carving courses as activity weekend breaks. Accommodation in the Manor House offers single and double rooms with magnificent sea views.

Bawdsey Manor Arts was refurbished in 2003 to provide facilities for a range of residential fine art 2D and 3D courses including drawing, painting and stone carving. The original building dates back to 1940 and was previously occupied by the RAF when Bawdsey operated as a radar station during and after WW2. The white 'Bauhaus' building, situated near the Manor House, provides an excellent backdrop to carving in stone. The gallery has been made available for artists to exhibit their work and there is also a sculpture garden, a short walk from the art centre, providing exhibition space regularly open to the public.

Partners or friends not participating in the workshops can stay full board in the Manor House for the weekend, or for  a week, to relax and  visit the Suffolk Heritage Coast. There are many attractions nearby for visitors such as Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Moot Hall Museum and Framlingham Castle.

The dramatic setting of the Manor House overlooks stunning views of the ever changing coastline; beaches, groynes and harbours provide a  never ending range of unusual stimuli and resource material, all within a short walk from the art centre.
